<3 spread the love <3

So my holidays were lovely, which is always a great thing. I got to see friends and family alike, had some very emotional moments and reconciled some differences. All in all, it was wonderful.

I am going to be doing my very first art show in January. I am nervous as all hell - I am the only crafter amongst a group of very talented fine artists. Hopefully, my stuff will sell =)

I have been brain storming on what to make. I took the majority of my knitted items off my etsy shop since they're photographed poorly. I figure that will give me a head start. I also made a lovely electric blue cowl this weekend. I am working on a black and pink and grey one for myself. I tried knitting in the round again, and I still absolutely hate it!!! I think it's the one thing that I can not stand doing at all what so ever. ugh!

I will post photos soon.

happy holidays to you...

So I am very happy and excited. I have now made 4 etsy sales in the month that I have been open. I need to work on my pictures. I made two new items last night and photographed them, but I can't for the life of me find my cord so that I can upload the new photos to etsy. =/ I am sure it will pop up somewhere!

I don't think I am going to sell many knitted items. There are so many on etsy already and they're much more expensive than mine. I used to only buy really nice expensive yarns until I realized that Michael's has a lot of nice, nice yarn for very cheap. Nothing compares to manos del uraguay, it's my favorite yarn, BUT it's $16.00 a skein - so just on materials, I'd need to charge $26.00 plus labor and shipping costs. Also, it's not machine washable.

I think I am going to move my shop more in the direction of my wall hangings and vintage craft supplies. I will continue to have knitted items on there from time to time, but it's not going to be my main focus I don't think. The knitted items just aren't selling. I can't see spending 6 hours making items that I am not selling. My boyfriend brought up a great point as well; I don't want to make all these hats and bags and then not sell them and be stuck with 100 hats and bags around the house.

Michael's is having a HUGE sale today from 1pm - 11pm. 15% off the entire order!! I am so excited, I am going to get yarn, ribbon, felt, and embroidery hoops for as far as the eye can see!

Yup, it's official. I'm a nerd.

Christmas present gone wrong!

Sooooo....one of the Christmas presents I was knitting was supposed to be a scarf for my Aunt whose taste I have a pretty good handle on. She lives in Ithica, NY - near Cornell. For those of you who know the area, you'll know just by that statement what she's into. Natural, earthy, neutral colors and styles. Well, I started making her a navy blue scarf, and realized about halfway through that I was going to run out of yarn. I was knitting at my boyfriend's house and had a case of the lazies. Without my faithful stash to dip into and pull out a second color to make it a multi colored scarf, I decided to make a cowl! It came out adorably and is now on sale in my etsy shop:

super happy with this, but i am not sure if it's my aunt would be into it. soooo, instead i am going to make her *another* scarf.

i have been having a problem balancing out holiday present crafts with etsy store crafts. I have just kind of been going on the fly, making ideas I have in my head...and when it's done, if I can look at it and say, "hey you're perfect for so-and-so!" it's a gift.

if not, then it goes in the shop. I am working on finishing up two recycyled sweater purses with adorable little owls on them. SO CUTE! can't wait until they're done.

If you read through this whole bloggy blog, you deserve a discount.
